Wes Anderson is a spectacular director who has recently released two movies set in the same period but miles away from each other. This can only be done by him, as making two movies at the same time and making them look entirely different is not everyone’s cup of tea. ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ is a movie that has made people stick to their place from the beginning to the end. It revolves around a wealthy gentleman named Anatole Kord, who has done nothing but use people to build his empire. His children despise him due to his hunger for money and fame.
Anatole Korda’s character sketch
Anatole Korda is a wealthy businessman who has gone to unimaginable depths to build his empire. And no, when I say unimaginable depths, it means horrible scandals and unimaginable information breaches. This man can do anything to get his work done, even including using his children. He is the father of ten children and is quite distant from them. He is known for making enemies at every end of the world and for destabilizing many governments just for power. But is this power fruitful when you have no one to share it with? Does it mean more than having your family along with you? You’ll find out after you watch this movie.

Korda’s project ‘Phoenicia’
Korda is determined to pull off a project called ‘Phoenicia’ to mark his superiority in the world. However, he is facing certain challenges in completing his deal. For this, he called his eldest daughter, Liesl, and asked for her input. With no surprise, Liesl despised him for his wrong deeds and corrupt business schemes. But at the end of the day, he is her father, and she is his daughter. Her father made several deals and schemes to get funds for his project, ‘Phoenicia.’
Theme of ‘The Phoenician Scheme’
The Phoenician Scheme is set as a thriller, a fat money movie with all the talented actors one could think of. Most of the Wes Anderson movies are based on the beliefs of spirituality and grace, which we can observe in ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ as well. The movie revolves around an immoral businessman and, in contrast, his daughter, who follows spirituality and is morally defined.
Contrasting idea of Wes Anderson
‘The Phoenician Scheme’ is not just any movie. You will feel physical anger, discomfort, and violent thoughts while watching this movie. Wes Anderson’s ideology in making films is not applicable in this movie. He has shown violence, grief, anger, frustration, and triggers in this movie which makes me warn the audience. DO NOT WATCH IT if you get triggered by any of the emotions mentioned above.

Conclusion
The Phoenician Scheme is a perfect movie to watch if you are a fan of thrillers and action-packed movies. Its calculative construction will make you stick to your seat as it contains twists in almost every scene of the movie. Korda and Liesl made a good team, as much mean Korda was mean, he was good to his daughter.
