Old guard fans, the wait is over. In just a few hours you can stream The Old Guard 2 on Netflix. But this time around Andy is no longer immortal. Will she make it through the next one alive? We’ll have to wait and see.
This one is directed by Victoria Mahoney who is taking over for Gina Prince-Bythewood who directed the first Old Guard film which was based on the comic series by Greg Rucka.
In The Old Guard 2 we see Andy, Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), and Nicky (Luca Marinelli) battling the vengeful Quynh (Veronica Ngô) who has finally broken out of her watery prison. They’re also up against a new foe: the world’s first immortal, Discord (Thurman). Teaming up with returning ally James Copely (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and new friend Tuah (Henry Golding) Andy and her crew are once again saving the world through lots of fighting and determination.

When The Old Guard 2 get released on Netflix
The Old Guard 2 has started early streaming on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. At midnight on Wednesday, 1 July, Pacific Time (which is 2:00 a.m. Central Time, 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time, and 8:00 a.m. British Summer Time), the film was available so if you live on the West Coast, consider spending your midnight-watching hours.
East Coast viewers will have to wait until 3 a.m. If you don’t see the movie right away, try refreshing the page, or log out and sign back into your Netflix account.
The Old Guard 2 cast
The Old Guard 2 cast is led by Charlize Theron as Andy aka Andromache of Scythia, the oldest immortal and leader of the group.She’ll be joined by several returning cast members:
- KiKi Layne is Nile Freeman, the newest immortal.
- Matthias Schoenaerts is Booker (aka Sebastian Le Livre), a French soldier who fought for Napoleon.
- Marwan Kenzari is Joe (Yusuf Al-Kaysani), a Muslim warrior from the Crusades and Nicky’s partner.
- Luca Marinelli is Nicky, a former Crusader who fought Joe before they became lovers.
- Chiwetel Ejiofor returns as James Copley, an ex-CIA operative who helps the immortals on their missions.
- The Old Guard 2 also brings in new blood: Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) and Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, Snake Eyes).Their roles are still top secret.
Will Quynh Die? Is Nile Going to Kill All the Immortals?
With a major cliffhanger at the ending of The Old Guard 2 on Netflix, there is little doubt that The Old Guard 3 will be on its way. What does worry me, though, is the supply of time given to the previous one just before the arrival of the sequel: almost five years passed. I hope the third chapter does not take so much time.
Meanwhile, I have been pondering the potential happenings in The Old Guard 3. Let us look at some thoughts I have for where the story might go.

Discord Might Regain Her Immortality
The character “Discord” does not come from the original comic source material, hence, maybe her real motivations remain unclear in the film. But the conclusion hints at more coming her way, including the possibility of her regaining immortality in the sequel.
Is Booker Dead? Did He Transfer His Immortality To Andy?
For the first 200 years Booker was living as one of the immortals in Andy’s team, under the name Sebastian Le Livre. Before meeting Andy, he was just a rake-sharp thief in 19th century France, doing anything to keep his family fed during the corner-times.Booker had received this gift of eternal life alongside his three sons; simply put, Booker had to see all his children die in front of him. Booker never desired immortality. He wished to die alongside his family, but that option was taken away from him. As per the first film in the series, Jean-Pierre, Andrew’s youngest, was the last dying. He died of cancer at age 42.
