Cast in Season 2
Many new characters will appear in Season 2. They add depth to the story and influence Ellie and Joel’s lives.
1. Kaitlyn Dever plays Abby
Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby. She is the antagonist of the season. Moreover, she aims to avenge the loss of her loved one. involvement with the franchise began years ago, when she was approached about a different role. Although the film did not take place, she was eventually offered the role of Abby on the show. Dever stated her excitement in playing this character. She thought it was unconventional.
2. Catherine O’ Hara plays Gail
Catherine is well-known for her role in the popular television series “Schitt’s Creek”. She takes on a more serious role as Gail. Furthermore, she is Joel’s therapist in Jackson. Her character was created expressly for the show. Her character is not present in the video game. Moreover, the director wanted to expand Joel’s character. Thus, he feels that having Gail helps Joel understand why Ellie is distancing herself from him.
3. Jeffrey Wright plays Isaac
Jeffrey Wright plays Isaac. He plays the formidable head of a militia. He reprises his video game voice role for this character. Wright mentioned that viewers will learn more about Isaac’s background. He will also learn how he became who he is.
4. Isabela Merced plays Dina
Isabela Merced joins the cast as Dina. She is Ellie’s best friend in Jackson. Also, she is a fun-loving friend who later becomes Ellie’s love interest. HBO describes Dina’s loyalty to Ellie as something that will be tested throughout the season. Merced sees Dina as a bright light in the dark world they live in. Moreover, she states that she tries to lighten the mood during tough times.
5. Young Mazino plays Jesse
Young will appear as Jesse. He is a key member of the Jackson community. Much of Jesse’s character development comes from his relationship with Ellie and Dina. Moreover, Mazino expressed that Jesse’s dedication to his friends and community is put to the test as challenges arise in the show.
6. Noah Lamanna plays Kat
Noah will be appearing as Kat. She is Ellie’s ex-girlfriend. Both characters live in Jackson. Also, this leads to various interactions between them. Lamanna explained the vibe between them as “off”. However, they are working through their past as they come together.
7. Danny Ramirez plays Manny
Danny takes on the role of Manny. He is one of Isaac’s loyal soldiers. Also, he assists Abby in her mansion. His character first appeared in the video game’s second part. Moreover, Ramirez is also famous for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently appeared in a major cast announcement for “Avengers: Doomsday”.
