The following are two upcoming shows on the calendar at The Africa Center, located at 1280 Fifth Avenue New York, NY.

Ezra Wube: Project Junction January 30—August 23, 2020 Opening Reception: January 30, 7:30—9:30PM

In this newly commissioned mixed media installation, Ezra Wube (b. 1980, Ethiopia) constructs a site-specific project that explores food as an expression of collective identity in its ever evolving state. The installation incorporates animation, painting, prints, and objects. We will be marking the completion of Project Junction with a celebration in the presence of the artist—please RSVP to join us! North African Movement: Chaâbi of Morocco Every Monday evening in February: February 3, 10, 17 & 24 6:30—8:00PM

Join us for a series of exhilarating Moroccan dance workshops exploring the movements of Chaâbi—the “people’s” music of Morocco. Chaâbi is an African dance style that reflects the voice and energy of community—it is high energy, celebratory, and pushes one to release without inhibitions. Commonly associated with the symbolism of “horses” in its movement, Chaâbi also connects people to dance with strength, discipline, and force.

The class will be led by performing and teaching artist, Esraa Warda. Tickets: $15 per class or $40 for a package of 4 classes. For more information log on to: www.theafricacenter.org
