It is the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 action thriller The Accountant. The Accountant 2 will be streaming exclusively on Prime Video from June 5, 2025. The film premieres Tuesday, and ahead of the film’s premiere, Amazon confirmed that Prime subscribers will have instant access on the launch date. And if you haven’t seen the original or if you want to refresh your memory, you can also stream the first The Accountant via Prime Video.
Where to Watch the The Accountant Sequel
The Accountant 2 is exclusive to Prime Video — this is a film that should not be shown on other platforms like Netflix or Hulu. Viewers will have to have an Amazon Prime membership, which includes Prime Video, to watch. Monthly memberships start at $14.99 a month and $139 a year. New to the service? Amazon gives a 30-day free trial offer and has discounted plans for university students and government assistance beneficiaries. Therefore, you will be able to stream the movie on all compatible devices via the Prime Video app or website, such as Smart TVs, mobile devices, game consoles, and web browsers.

The Accountant 2 Returning Cast Members
Christian Wolff is back; he’s respectable Ben Affleck’s mathematical genius with autism, for whom forensic accounting isn’t just a side job, but an occupation. Back also is Jon Bernthal as his estranged and violent younger brother, Braxton Wolff. J.K. Simmons (former Treasury officer Raymond King), Cynthia Addai Robinson (now Deputy Director at the U.S. Treasury, Marybeth Medina), who were members of the cast last season, will also return for season two.
A number of fresh faces are added to the cast, which also includes Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, Andrew Howard, Robert Morgan, and Grant Harvey.
Plot Summary: What Happens in The Accountant 2?
The Accountant 2 picks up after the events of the first movie, and Christian Wolff investigates the murder of a former associate that left one mystery behind: ‘Find the accountant.’ This clue replays Christian back into the world he wanted to escape from. He turns to his lethal brother, Braxton, and the two start tracking the killer.
The brothers dig deeper and find a conspiracy that extends high in the financial and government establishments. The only ally remaining for them is in the form of Marybeth Medina, who had been working at a higher level in the Treasury Department. A shadowy network comes after the trio, prepared to kill to cover up things they don’t want getting out. The movie features fast-paced action with cryptic clues and also has some emotional depth between the brothers, promising to deliver the same grit-based suspense that gave the first installment a cult following.
First Reactions and Critical Preview
USA TODAY’s film critic Brian Truitt says the sequel gives a moderately entertaining ride. Reviewer gave the film 2.5 out of 4 stars, advising that it can’t match the original but that it will be adequate enough to keep fans interested with its tapestry of intrigue and action. But Truitt described it as: “Take Ben Affleck’s original The Accountant, take out the math, add a little country line dancing and multiply that times two brothers.” The review points out that the chemistry between Affleck and Bernthal adds emotional weight, even if the plot doesn’t break much new ground.
Prime Video: A Growing Destination for Big Titles
Amazon MGM Studios’ account of original films includes The Accountant 2. Prime Video is quickly becoming a serious player in the game of streaming star-driven high-quality entertainment as it continues to support other projects like Air and Red One. With traditional theatrical releases stiffly challenged by at-home streaming, Amazon’s choice to premiere The Accountant 2 exclusively on Prime is representative of a wider change in how movies are distributed and consumed by the public in 2025.
