Less than 13 hours after a mass shooting left 20 people dead in El Paso, 9 people were killed overnight in Dayton, Ohio in a second mass shooting. We grieve again as a nation for those who lost their lives, those who were injured, and for the cities of El Paso and Dayton.
Unless and until we pass legislation to address our gun violence epidemic, we will see more and more of these sickening and unacceptable mass shootings.
It’s time for all members of Congress and the President to wake up. You are failing to protect Americans, plain and simple. Pass responsible gun control legislation.

Anything short of that should be the undoing of legislators who fail to protect our people.

New York County (Manhattan) D.A. Vance is co-founder and co-chair of Prosecutors Against Gun Violence, which will convene for a summit titled “The New Norm: Mass Shootings in America” in Las Vegas on October 4.
