Terminator 2: Judgment Day is perhaps one of the most awesome movies ever made. It’s a sequel to the first part of the Terminator film and gets it right in so many ways. Directed by James Cameron, who made this movie in 1991, this film centers on a cyborg named T-800, played by the incomparable Arnold Schwarzenegger. This cyborg is sent back into the past to protect a young boy named John Connor. John is important because he will lead the fight against machines in the future. The bad guy is the T-1000, a liquid metal man who can change his shape, played by Robert Patrick.
The movie starts right where action time begins. I can remember some very action-filled chase scenes! That was so exciting! The T-1000 is really frightening because he can change into anything, even make weapons out of his body. Schwarzenegger’s character is supposed to be the good guy this time, which is cool because he was the bad guy in the first movie. I like how he learns to be more human through his interactions with John.

Linda Hamilton plays Sarah Connor, and she’s so different from how she was in the first film. She’s tough and strong now. She wants to prepare John for the future where machines might take over. It’s interesting to see her character grow from being scared to becoming a warrior. Edward Furlong, who plays John, does a good job too. He’s just a kid but has to deal with a lot of pressure.
What I really love about Terminator 2 is that it’s an action movie with emotion. It is funny whenever John is trying to teach the Terminator to be more like a human; naturally, some funny situations occur. Then again, it has sad moments, such as when John understands that his protector might have to give up in the final scene. The characters get you all the way.
The special effects in this film are amazing as well! They used a lot of practical effects alongside CGI, which were not so common at that time. Their scenes where T-1000 gets shot but then heals itself are still impressive up to today. I think they did an outstanding job making everything look authentic and exciting.
However, not everything about Terminator 2 is perfect. There are some people who say it lost some of the rawness that made the first film so great. It feels more polished and big and blockbuster-like, while the first felt more gritty and intense. It’s still fun but maybe not as edgy as before.
Another thing is that sometimes the story feels a bit of a wreck. The first film had a clear chase plot, and this gets into more complicated ideas about changing history and saving humanity. It’s nice to see more depth in the story, but it can make some parts feel pretty disjointed at times.

And, finally, I think Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a great film that certainly stands as one of the greatest sequels ever made. It combines action, emotion, and great performances from a cast that should have been quite memorable. If it has some flaws, it brings an unforgettable experience to the viewer, holding him on the edge of the seat while making him care about what happens to these characters. Definitely worth watching for those who love sci-fi films!
