If you haven’t finished Stranger Things season 3, you’ve been missing out! The hit Netflix show has raged with great viewership racking up to nearly 40 million member accounts who watched the show.
Taking in this success comes with many perks, but also makes one wonder how much the cast is being paid for the series. According to Bill Foster from Cabletv.com, it was discovered Millie Bobby Brown, known for playing ‘Eleven’, makes as much as her adult co-stars Winona Ryder and David Harbour. Outside the show, she’s enjoyed more big-scren success with the 2019 Godzilla film than Harbour’s Hellboy did.
However, Brown was said to receive the same pay the core six Stranger Things young cast per-episode figure. During its first two seasons, the figure ranged $30,000 an episode (not counting the six-figure bonus following the show’s success). The salary wage for the cast had been negotiated up to $220,000 per episode by season 3 production. For Brown, Stranger Things isn’t her first step into acting, having appeared on Modern Family, NCIS, Once upon a Time in Wonderland, Intruders, and more. Brown could receive a pay increase due to the third season’s success. If so, we can assume the rest of the cast would also receive a pay bump as well.
Becky Freeth of metro.co.uk reported if they could finish the entire seasons, the young cast would be able to walk away with nearly $2 million. The report follows how the teenagers (Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan) played by Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, and Charlie Heaton respectively are said to be earning $150,000 per episode, tallying up to $1.2 million for a full season. Newcomers D’acre Montgomery and Sadie Sink (Billy Hargrove and Max Mayfield) have projected a total of $150,00 per episode, projecting up to just over a $1 million.
Our adults don’t shy away this either with Winona Ryder and David Harbour (Joyce Byers and Chief Jim Hopper respectively) reportedly receiving $350,000 per episode, coming up to $2.8 million for the season. As a veteran, Ryder has been hit films since the eighties. Known for her roles in Beetlejuice, Girl, Interrupted, Heathers and Reality Bites, Ryder probably stood the most out to have her salary pay. During the first season, Ryder was making $100,000 per episode, which was $20,000 more than Harbour himself.
After an 11 hour film day, one would say it’s pretty good for a long day’s work. The surprising factor in this is the wage gap between the kids on the show. Generally, an average US household salary holds up to barely $50,000 a year, so with a fourth and (possibly) final season on the horizon, the Hawkins residents are thriving pretty well.
