“Big films are a goal of mine and I’m shooting for an Oscar," this dynamo continues. If her prior successes are any indication, will anyone dare doubt her words? Hope she’s already prepared her acceptance speech.
(Spruill wants to share her success with others…)
Where She’s From: Drive is defined as working or trying hard as to reach a goal or the power or energy to get things done. Nicole Spruill believes when Webster’s penned the definition, they must have had her in mind.Â
After over eight years in the business, this young model and actress is making strides in the entertainment industry, from coast to coast.
A native of New Haven, CT., Nicole’s career catapulted after she won Maybelline “Shades of You'” Model of the Year Competition. Nicole spent time in Europe, being featured in various designer runway shows and photo shoots before making her way to the Big Apple. Upon moving to New York, Nicole began to enjoy a ton of success. She has appeared in Essence, In style, Complex and in two, seven page layouts for Today’s Black Women Magazine. Definitely a triple threat, Spruill adds dancing and acting to her repertoire.
“In order to improve my acting abilities and opportunities, I began working with renowned acting coach, Nina Murano, who has also worked with several actors from the television shows, Sex and the City, and The Sopranos, says Nicole. “Under the auspices of Wilhelmina Model Agency and International Creative Management, ICM, I secured many casting assignments on television and in film.
Nicole has appeared in commercials for Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Caress, Nissan Murano and NFL to name a few. All of which she was booked as principle talent. Conquering the East Coast, in 2004, Nicole decided to pack her bags and move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Where She’s At: Within the same year, Nicole became part of an ensemble cast of PAX TV’s, Model Citizens, which the network describes as, “A spirited series where models trade in their five star hotels for no star motels and bring out the beauty in everyone they meet. Good bye stilettos, hello construction boots – here comes the gorgeous model squad transplanted from the catwalks of Seventh Avenue to the crosswalks of Main Street USA!”
Los Angeles has also proved successful for this young beauty. She is currently in advertisement campaigns for Rite Aid and Sundance Spas. On television, in national commercial spots, “The Tonight Show,” with Jay Leno, “Jimmy Kimmel Lives tribute to Jimmy Kimmel” The hit HBO television show,” Entourage,” and also on “E” Entertainment channel,” Countdown to the Emmys 2006.” Nicole is definitely a force to be reckoned with. “I’ve always believed in myself and knew that I could do anything with confidence, a good mind and spirit,” she says.
Where She’s Headed: As if she doesn’t have an overflowing plate, armed with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, along with her modeling and acting career, Nicole operates the NSmodel Management Group. “My focus is to help those that want to make it in the industry but do not have the know how, she explains. “It’s hard to build your book, find great photographers, make-up artists, stylists as well as a good agent. My company does the legwork for you.
She has also expanded and started working for companies as their creative consultant for photo shoots and music videos. “I love this because it gives me the opportunity to work behind the camera and use the knowledge that I’ve learned as a professional model to make others look good,” she adds.
“Big films are a goal of mine and I’m shooting for an Oscar,” this dynamo continues. If her prior successes are any indication, will anyone dare doubt her words? Hope she’s already prepared her acceptance speech.
Nicole’s Words of Wisdom: “Preparation is a key element in determining your success of demise. Always be prepared! Also make sure to have a great team that supports and believes in you. Agent, manager, publicist. Most importantly, believe in yourself.”
Keys to success: “Put God first and everything else will follow!
