New York City true crime author and Black Star News investigative journalist Toby Rogers reports that during the construction of Trump Tower between 1979 and 1983, Donald J. Trump was commonly referred to as “Donnie T” by the Italian mafia in New York City who rubbed elbows with the future POTUS though his mobbed up lawyer Roy Cohn.
While the media has reported extensively on President Donald J. Trump’s New York City mafia connections, the president’s old mafia nick-name has remained a secret throughout his presidency.
Until now.
The Black Star News has learned that- before first wife Ivanna coined “The Donald” in a 1989 Spy interview- within New York City Mafia circles in the 70’s and 80’s, President Trump was casually referred to as “Donnie T.”
Shortly after the 2016 U.S. Presidential election win by Trump, all over NYC’s Little Italy the criminal underworld began frantically texting each other shocked that one of their own actually made it all the way to the highest office in the land. This correspondent, who had published a book about the New York City’s mafia’s current involvement in the underground cannabis economy- The Ganja Godfather (2015, Trine Day Press)- was inadvertnly included into those texts through various sources for the book.
Sure, John F. Kennedy knew a few wiseguys like Frank Sinatra and other Irish hood Mayors in Boston and Chicago, but “Donnie T” came through New York City mafia fostered through his deep friendship with his mobbed up attorney Roy Cohn who introduced the future POTUS to Genovese crime boss Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno and John “Johnny Boy” Gotti.
“Roy Cohn started bringing Trump around 1978-79,” one senior mafia “official” told The Black Star News. Over time Cohn’s mob contacts in New York City, according to this source, started calling Trump “Donnie T.” One place Donnie T was often seen by mid-level-goon-bops was with Cohen at Studio 54.
The young outer-borough-slum-lord-scion of klansman Frederick Christ Trump Sr. schlepped from Queens all the way into Manhattan in the mid-late 1970’s with the goal of securing real estate ventures in the much more prestigious, respected and glamorous burrough, something his father was never able to accomplish himself.
Through Cohn, Trump had full access to New York City’s criminal underworld and benefited greatly from them. The lines of coke and prostitutes at Studio 54 were just gravy. It was Fat Tony that got Trump the cheapest cement possible while building the glass and brass architectural monstrosity now known as Trump Tower that began construction in 1979 and was completed in 1983. Salerno also guided a concrete workers union strike that shut down Manhattan around Trump Tower’s construction in 1982.
When Trump Tower was complete, the future POTUS met the cigar-chomping, fedora wearing crime boss, Fat Tony at Cohn’s Manhattan townhouse. With Trump soon moving into the New Jersey Casino business, every Boss in the tri-state area wanted in.
In the end, some of them did go in with Trump and invested in casinos and catered to mobsters of all levels. In fact all the Atlantic City casinos Trump acquired became fronts for large money laundering operations for both Italian and Russian mafia organizations, with Trump and his AC casinos becoming an ecumenical bridge between both mob criminal syndicates. In its first year of operation, the Trump Taj Mahal Casino broke anti-money laundering laws 106 times the first 16 months it opened.
In 1998, Trump paid the largest fine in Casino history- $477,000 to the Treasury Department- after the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) discovered Trump’s casinos were not properly reporting gamblers daily cash outs that went over $10,000.
Trump doesn’t deny his connections to the criminal underworld. While appearing on the David Letterman Show in 2013, he admitted he worked with the Mafia.
“You know, growing up in New York and doing business in New York, I would say there might have been one of those characters along the way, but generally speaking I like to stay away from that group.”
“I have met on occasion a few of those people. They happen to be very nice people,” he said. “You just don’t want to owe them money.”

Cinque can be seen in a video obtained by the Palm Beach Daily News, cheering loudly next to a tuxedo-clad President-elect Trump.
Trump has acquired many names over the decades, including quite a few during his racist and disgusting presidency. But for the record, the first one came from the NYC mafia- and they called him Donnie T.
And as the 2020 Election looms ever closer, the chatter swirling around DC insiders this final weekend of campaigning has a mafia like overtone to it all. While the media all talks about the various election night scenarios, they miss the most important linchpin to the entire election. Unless former Vice President Joe Biden wins in an overwhelming landslide, team Trump’s attempt to steal the election just may pan out again.
Lets just for a minute, set aside all the happy talk scenarios of Biden winning Arizona, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Iowa or Ohio. Trump can lose Wisconsin and Michigan and still win with the above mentioned states with one state outstanding, tipping either candidate a victory if they can secure it’s twenty electors.
Pennsylvania.
Those in the know in DC are pouring one wine glass after another all weekend long, knowing the outcome of all those “Keystone State” absentee and mail-in ballots that will be fought over by Trump all the way to the Supreme Court. There also has been talk of Trump flipping Nevada and Minnesota too. Nevada- with Sin City at its center- is actually plausible.
There maybe another “blue wave” in 2020, but if Trump declares victory early into election night and contests mail-in ballots all the way to the Supreme Court, this election may end up being decided by a right-wing dominated panel of judges tipping the scales power in Trump’s favor, toppling and destroying the entire process we currently define as American democracy in its wake.
