Simon’s Fate: Trapped in the Afterlife
Ventura talked about what happened to Simon. He mentioned that when he read the script, he realized how Season 3 would unfold. Maddie returns to her body after two seasons. She jumps back in just in time. Also, Ambulances were about to take her body away from Spilt River High.
Maddie asks where Simon is. Thus, the show reveals that Simon is trapped. This is in the afterlife at Split River High. He is in Mr. Martin’s scar. That is his personal hell.

The Story Unfolds
Ventura explains that Simon crosses over at the same time that Maddie returns to her body. Their love for each other played a role. Also, Simon got trapped. This is a role reversal. Simon has helped Maddie more now. Therefore, it is her turn to help him.
Simon’s Destination
Simon was going back to the boiler room. He thought it was their mutual spot. Also, he believed he could call out to Maddie. He went inside the bomb shelter. He is now trapped in the underworld. He cannot come back now. Someone has to save Simon. Along with that, it was an act of unconditional love. He ran to get her without thinking about the danger.
Is Someone in Simon’s Body?
The last two times that someone ended up in the afterlife, a spirit took over their body. Thus, Janet took over Maddie. Also, Mr. Martin borrowed Mr. Anderson’s body. Ventura also said that it looks like Simon’s physical body is trapped as well. However, he is not sure. He was about to say that his body was trapped in the scar. This is because they went in and out at the same time.
Moreover, he wonders if his body is lying around somewhere in the school. Or, if it has been hijacked by someone. The bigger question is why Simon is trapped in the scar and where Maddie is. Janet’s cliffhanger is another question mark. She said there are more things Mr. Martin did not inform her. It is beyond the red rooms and the scars. It is related to the hospital and the school. Thus, Mr. Martin is holding a lot of information.
Simon and Maddie’s Fight
Simon and Maddie also have a huge fight in episode 7. Simon questions how she is treating him and her living friends. Ventura mentions that Simon feels burnt out. Also, he has given too much of himself. He believed she would do the same. Moreover, he loses his future and is suspended. Thus, he cannot go to college. His life is over because he was trying to save her.
There are consequences to all their acts. There is no jail-free card in this episode. Also, he misses her. They are 17-year-olds who want to spend time with each other. However, they have lost their childhood. Thus, Simon realizes he cannot give anymore. Now, he is completely drained. However, there is potential in Season 3. There could be a graduation. Or, there could also be a fast-forward to their college lives. There are a lot of unanswered questions in the coming episodes.
