New York State Senator and candidate for New York City Comptroller Brian Benjamin announced today two new endorsements for his campaign, City Councilmember Rafael Salamanca, and Assemblymember Latoya Joyner, both representatives of the Bronx.

These endorsements add to Brian’s growing list of endorsements from Bronx leaders, including former Bronx Assemblymember and Democratic National Committee Vice Chair Michael Blake, Assemblymember Kenny Burgos, Assemblymember Chantel Jackson, City Councilmember Diana Ayala and candidate for New York City Council District 16, Althea Stevens, who have already pledged their support for Brian’s bid for city Comptroller.

“My love for the South Bronx runs deep. It serves as my motivation to wake up every day in service to our people, our families, and our small businesses. And one thing the pandemic has made clear is that the Bronx is essential. So as we look towards the future, we need leadership in New York City that understands and commits to that,” said City Councilmember Rafael Salamanca Jr., Chair of the Land Use Committee. “I know the experience and leadership that Senator Brian Benjamin has shown in Harlem, in Albany, and across the city, and that’s why I’m excited to endorse Brian as the most- and best-qualified candidate for NYC Comptroller.”

“Brian Benjamin has been a strong partner in the State Legislature on everything from protecting the rights of workers, supporting health equity, and advancing much-needed criminal justice reforms,” said Assemblymember Latoya Joyner, Chair of the Assembly Labor Committee. “As the next New York City Comptroller, I know that his direct financial management experience and commitment to the hard-working pension earners of our city will make him the best suited on day one to begin to resolve our difficult fiscal challenges, and I could not be prouder to endorse him, today.”

“I am honored to have received the endorsement of these two leaders, and I am excited about the momentum my campaign is building both in the Bronx and throughout the city,” said State Senator and candidate for New York City Comptroller Brian Benjamin. “As Comptroller, I will make sure that communities like the Bronx are not overlooked, but instead, are lifted up and supported as we work toward building a stronger economy.”
