Marking today’s City Council hearing on the preliminary budget proposal for the Department of Transportation, Riders Alliance Senior Organizer Jolyse Race said:
“Mayor Adams promised millions of riders faster buses and took an oath to follow the law but he hasn’t delivered. We celebrated the mayor and built support for his administration’s proposals but he caved to wealthy suburbanites who don’t value our time.
“The City Council invested the money to build the busways and bus lanes riders deserve but the mayor hasn’t used political will to speed up our service. Rather than engage in a tedious back and forth with transportation officials not allowed to do their jobs, Council members should join riders in holding Mayor Adams accountable for his administration’s failures.”
