Mexican wrestling legend Rey Mysterio departed this life on 20th December 2024, the news first confirmed by his son, El Hijo Rey Misterio through a Facebook post. He posted a statement on Facebook in Spanish about the death of his father. The real cause of the death has not been announced yet. The real name of Mysterio is Miguel Angel Lopez Dias who started his wrestling career in 1976 and officially retired from wrestling in 2009. Mysterio was a pioneer in the Lucha Libre Community and was the uncle of WWE Hall of Famer. At the age of 66, The Mexican legend passed away.

Oscar Gutierrez Rubio born in 1955 in Tijuana Mexico, was a professional American wrestler. Oscar Gutierrez Rubio was popularly known by his ring name Rey Mysterio. From a boxer to working as a mentor to many wrestlers, the journey of Mysterio is inspiring. Rey Mysterio also introduced his nephew to the wrestling ring and later became a Hall of Famer. Initially, Mysterio worked in ECW and WCW but in 2002 when he joined WWE, the name Mysterio was known to all.

In 1990 Mysterio appeared at the world championship of wrestling in the Pat O’ Connor Memorial International Cup. In this championship, he represented his country Mexico, and Konnan, his fellow wrestling legend. Because of his love for this sport, Rey Mysterio won several titles including the WWE World Junior Lite Heavyweight Championship, the IWC World Middleweight Championship, and the Revolution Tag Team Championship which he played with his son. Mysterio also trained his son, his nephew, and various other wrestling Champions including Damian 666, Konnan, Halloween, and Psicosis.
