WASHINGTON, DC (August 24, 2024) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network, will join Rev. Dr. Bernard L. Richardson, Dean of the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel at Howard University, Sunday to deliver a sermon at the campus chapel. Rev. Sharpton’s appearance follows the Democratic National Convention, where he spoke ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris, and comes one week after the start of the Fall semester at Howard University. With only 74 days remaining in the 2024 Presidential campaign, Rev. Sharpton will emphasize the importance of the youth vote, as well as the power of their education at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) — particularly as Vice President and Howard alumna Harris stands on the brink of potentially being elected the next President of the United States.

“I spoke at the DNC this past Thursday right before Vice President Harris made history by accepting the Democratic nomination for President. She also made history as the first HBCU alum to accept a major party nomination for President,” Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of NAN. “It was clear at the Convention that the enthusiasm behind Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz is there. The wind is at their backs, but that doesn’t mean the work is done. It’s crucial that this enthusiasm reaches every voter, from 18 or 108, and that they’ll turn out in force this November. I will be doing my part to ensure folks understand what’s at stake and exercise their right to vote accordingly.”
