North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis is one of the only Republicans who is not using the tragic murder of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk to attack Democrats or liberals. In fact, Tillis has denounced MAGA for using Kirk’s killing as a rallying cry for war against leftists.
Tillis said the following to reporters Thursday:
“What I was really disgusted by yesterday is a couple of talking heads that see this as an opportunity to say we’re at war so that they could get some of our conservative followers lathered up over this. It seems like a cheap, disgusting, awful way to pretend like you’re a leader of a conservative movement. And there were two in particular that I found particularly disgusting.”
One of the two “talking heads” Senator Tillis was probably talking about was Fox New host Jesse Watters (above right) who, during a broadcast, said, “Think about it… it’s happening. You’ve got trans shooters, you’ve got riots in L.A. They are at war with us, whether we want to accept it or, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it?”
Another may have been Alex Jones who said, “Emergency Warning! The Democrat Deep State Killed Charlie Kirk In A Desperate Attempt To Shut Down Populist Free Speech And Conservative / Nationalist Voting Recruitment On College Campuses.”
Former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon, on his show War Room, like Watters, also used the word “war”, referenced by Senator Tillis, when Bannon said, “We have to have steely resolve. Charlie Kirk is a casualty of war. We are at war in this country. We are.”
Elon Musk, on X, claimed, “The Left is the party of murder.”
And, of course, Donald Trump stated that “It’s a long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree. For years, those on the radical Left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”
Senator Tillis recently announced he would not seek reelection after being attacked by Trump.
