JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2026) – Nationally renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and the family of Asia Marie Bennett Friday revealed new evidence about the fatal shooting of the 22-year-old domestic violence victim by a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer on Aug. 11, 2026.

According to an embalmer’s report reviewed by the family’s legal team, the second of the two shots fired by the officer struck Bennett from the side, in her back, while she was on her hands and knees.
The legal team’s analysis indicates the bullet entered the middle of her back and exited the right side of her body on a downward trajectory.
“It has now been revealed that Asia Bennett, a domestic violence victim who was shot and killed by a JSO officer, was on her hands and knees when the second shot struck her from the side, in her back,” said Attorney Ben Crump. “That round entered the middle of her back and exited the right side of her body on a downward trajectory. You do not fire a second round into a young woman’s back while she is on her hands and knees. That is what the evidence shows, and that is what Asia’s family will not let this city forget.”
