BALTIMORE – Congressman Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) issued the following statement regarding a federal judge’s order for half a dozen federal agencies to immediately reinstate probationary employees fired last month as part of the Trump administration’s effort to purge the federal workforce.
“Federal workers are the ‘heart-blood’ of this nation, and sham dismissals of civil servants en masse are both un-American and illegal. While I am encouraged by today’s court ruling, I recognize that a long fight for our nation’s public servants and to uphold the integrity and foundation of our government remains. As the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, I will not yield in my pursuit to bring about justice and curtail the ‘Department of Government Evil’ as it wreaks havoc upon our country,” said Congressman Kweisi Mfume, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Government Operations.
