The following is about the short documentary named ‘The Forgotten Jackie Robinson’ which details important facts about baseball barrier breaker Jackie Robinson.
As the title indicates, this isn’t about what Jackie did on the ball field, but what he did after he hung up his spikes. He was relentless in the civil rights struggle as he was on the diamond. He was also a business executive with Chock Full of Nuts in charge of personnel. He was for equal opportunity long before Affirmative Action.
The documentary, done by Fanon Hutchinson and narrated by Dr. Earl Ofari Hutchinson shows how it all started for Jack Roosevelt Robinson in Pasadena, CA.
It shows some baseball highlights, however it focuses on how Mr. Robinson spent the rest of his life fighting for human dignity and equality. April 15th used to be known as Income Tax Day. It’s now known as “Jackie Robinson Day.”
