Playstation Network Crisis

The downright outage started on Monday, 30th September, and is unresolved. Downdetector, the platform that tracks network down outages, has confirmed the crisis. The PlayStation Network outage has affected gamers worldwide. The reporting of the issue is relatively higher in the United States than in any other country.

The network crisis affected different video game consoles such as the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PS Vita, and the older versions like the PlayStation 3. Gamers who planned to enjoy a fantastic gaming session on Monday evening were disappointed as the network outage made it impossible to log into their accounts or play any game online.

The Official PlayStation Network(PSN) Service Status Page remarked on the outage, thus confirming the same. The page released a notification specifying that they are continuously working on the issue and thank their users for their patience.

Global Issues on the PlayStation Devices

The outage affected everything from the gaming to network features on the PSN. The error bug affected various PlayStation devices such as the PS5, PS4, PS Vita, and PS3.

Some users reported a similar kind of error as “PS5 error Code WS-116522-7,” that Sony’s error webpage linked to a system software update failure. However, Offline games that don’t require an online connection worked fine, providing some relief to the gamers unaffected by the network outage.

No Comment on the Network Outage cause

Till now, Sony has not released an official statement specifying the reason that caused the outage. Also, there has been no information on the estimated time to resolve the issue. The timing of this outage is noteworthy because it came shortly after Sony resolved the PS5 home screen issue. However, it is unclear if the two issues are related.

Sony must also make their services fluent as the PS5 pro price was not well-received by the gamers.

Waiting for the fix

The PlayStation Network outage affected online games and applications; offline games are still functional. However, many avid gamers are desperately waiting for the error to be resolved. As Sony is working on the issue, users are advised to remain positive and patient and look out for the PSN status page for official updates.
