Phyllis Stickney To Perform At ‘Comedy in Harlem’ Dec. 16

New York, NY (December 6, 2022) — Hollywood veteran Actress/Comedienne PHYLLIS YVONNE STICKNEY hits the stage at Comedy in Harlem for a special “One Night Only” performance, “Embrace the Change,” on Friday, December 16th. The Empress of Entertainment graces the stage with her unique form of conscious comedy at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The evening features a live DJ with bar and light fare available. Tickets are $30 and available on Eventbrite. 

Ms. Stickney is a world-class artist, producer, director and motivational speaker. Recently seen in the Showtime Original Series, “Shameless”, she is best known for her work in film, stage, television and comedy. Her credits include portrayals in Hollywood blockbusters including New Jack City, Malcolm X, What’s Love Got to Do With It?, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, The Women of Brewster Place and Die Hard With A Vengeance. She was also featured in HBO’s The History of Blacks in Comedy. 

Her work with at-risk youth and commitment to making a positive difference qualified her inclusion in Essence magazine’s 25th Anniversary publication as “One of the 200 African American Women who have changed the World.” In 2015, she was named a Torchbearer in Black Theater. Ms. Stickney is also the founder of “ADVOCATES 4 DIVERSITY IN THE ARTS,” an advocacy organization formed to assist selected artists of all hues and of varied disciplines in identifying and securing resources and support for their projects and careers.

Comedy in Harlem, located at 508 East 117th Street, is Harlem’s new home for stand-up comedy and New York City’s only Black-owned comedy club. Located just off the FDR, Comedy In Harlem is the best and most convenient place to see live stand-up comedy uptown.
