Philip Bailey (above) of Earth, Wind, & Fire, founder of the Music Is Unity Foundation, and Holly Choon Hyang Bachman, Korean adoptee / founder and president of the Mixed Roots Foundation will partner for THE POWER OF ONE: HOUR OF UNITY, a virtual event to raise awareness and funds to meet the urgent needs of foster youth across the country.

The event is part of the second annual #FosterChallenge that kicks off in May with the month-long POWER OF ONE campaign challenging Americans to donate $1 for each of the nation’s 500,000 foster youth to raise a total of $500,000. #FosterChallenge contributors can make a donation at www.fosterchallenge.org.

“My top priority is to raise funds to support the needs of foster children, especially those aging out of the foster care system,” said Philip Bailey, founder of the Music Is Unity Foundation. “Most foster children don’t have an adequate support network to help them navigate life. These children are victims of circumstance and are in the system through no fault of their own. We can all take action to help, especially during the pandemic and these turbulent times.”

“It is an honor to team up with Mr. Bailey and his Music is Unity Foundation again this year…Through the power of our networks and resources we are confident we will make this campaign even more successful than last year,” said Holly Choon Hyang Bachman, founder of Mixed Roots Foundation.

“We look forward to raising the necessary awareness to continue to put a spotlight on our foster youth who are struggling and in great need right now as well as inspire and encourage them that they are not alone and we are here to help and support them.”

Throughout NATIONAL FOSTER CARE MONTH, THE POWER OF ONE: HOUR OF UNITY month long campaign and virtual event will applaud the achievements of foster youth and showcase their talents along with allowing their voices and stories to be heard. All donations received will be distributed to over 20 nonprofit foster care organizations nationwide that provide foster youth with essential resources and services, including shelter, food, technology, education and other goods.
