Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is receiving much deserved backlash for the lies he told regarding his COVID vaccination status–along with the other idiotic comments he has been making in trying to justify his actions.
Unlike his sterling on-field persona, Rodgers is sacking himself on this issue with his idiotic denials. Time to man up Aaron.
Instead of taking responsibility for his false statements, Rodgers is whining that the media is on a “witch hunt” to get him and is blaming the “woke mob” and “cancel culture” for the image damaging controversy he finds himself in.
Rodgers recently made this dumb unhelpful statement: “I realize I’m in the crosshairs of the woke mob right now. So before the final nail gets put in my cancel culture casket, I think I’d like to set the record straight on so many of the blatant lies that are out there about myself.”
Rodgers complains about people lying on him but it is his lies that are the true source of the mess he is now attempting, but failing, to clean up.
For months, Rodgers has been lying about his vaccination status claiming he was immunized when he knew he wasn’t. During a August press conference, Rodgers was asked, “Are you vaccinated and what is your stance on vaccinations?”
Rodgers’ response was, “Yeah, I’ve been immunized.” He also added this, “There’s guys on the team that haven’t been vaccinated. I think it’s a personal decision. I’m not going to judge those guys,” insinuating that he was vaccinated unlike them.
Rodgers says he wasn’t lying when he made these statements, even though we now know and he always knew that he wasn’t immunized, like he falsely claimed. He has now tested positive for COVID and will be sidelined from competition.
In a recent interview, on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said, “First of all, I didn’t lie in the initial press conference. Had there been a follow-up to my statement that I had been immunized, I would have said, ‘Look, I’m not some sort of anti-vax, flat-earther. I am somebody who is a critical thinker.’ You guys know me, I march to the beat of my own drum.”
He also added: “I believe strongly in bodily autonomy and the ability to make choices for your body, not to have to acquiesce to some sort of woke culture or crazed individuals who say you have to do something.”
Rodgers evasive rambling statements are not very good and further reveals that he is lying.
Where is the evidence in this weird response that he didn’t lie? His claim that he isn’t a “anti-vax, flat-earther?” Nothing in these comments clarifies that he wasn’t lying. And is he really seriously blaming the media for making him look like a liar by not asking a followup question?
Also, his attempt to shift the focus from himself and put it upon Nets star Kyrie Irving, without calling Kyrie’s name, was not only in poor taste but shows us Rodgers is truly dishonest–unlike Kyrie who never lied, like Rodgers, about his vaccination status.
Then, Rodgers goes further by taking a page from his right-wing friends, and decides to attack the “woke culture or crazed individuals.” Rodgers shouldn’t use the word crazed. For what kind of “critical thinker” would think the advise of his talk show host friend, Joe Regan, should carry more weight than the findings of doctors and scientists regarding COVID?
Rodgers apparently thinks vaccines can cause infertility and that appears to be one of his reasons for not becoming vaccinated. Doctors and scientists refute the charge that COVID vaccination can cause infertility.
After his disastrous appearance, on The Pat McAfee Show, Prevea Health announced they were ending their partnership with the Packers’ quarterback. Given Rodgers’ unhinged and uninformed comments it not hard to understand why.
Instead of making stupid statements, like blaming cancel culture and the “woke mob,” Aaron Rodgers should just come clean and admit that he made a mistake by lying and concealing his true COVID vaccination status. Attacking others is obviously only making things worse for him.
As a star football quarterback Rodgers has received numerous accolades for his leadership and decision-making on the playing field, But in this particular moment those skills he exhibits on the field are sorely lacking here in the game of life. His decision to lie about his COVID vaccination status was a bad decision. He is now making it worse by blaming others, instead of himself for his wrong-headed actions.
If Rodgers decides to be smart here he should start by listening to what football Hall-Of-Famer Terry Bradshaw said during a sports telecast.
“I’ll give Aaron Rodgers some advice,” Bradshaw said on the telecast. “It would have been nice if he had just come to the Naval Academy and learned how to be honest. Learned not to lie. Because that’s what you did, Aaron. You lied to everyone. I understand ‘immunized.’ What you were doing was taking stuff that would keep you from getting COVID-19. You got COVID-19. “Ivermectin is a cattle dewormer. Sorry, folks, that’s what it is.
“We are a divided nation politically. We are a divided nation on the COVID-19, whether or not to take the vaccine. And unfortunately, we’ve got players that pretty much think only about themselves.
“And I’m extremely disappointed in the actions of Aaron Rodgers.”
