Strands Puzzle Commentary
This one was equal parts fun and festive. As soon as I spotted BURGERS, I knew we were in cookout territory. That led me straight to BRATS and COLESLAW, which helped me narrow in on the spangram. Seeing BARBECUE stretch across the board really confirmed the theme and opened up the remaining clues.
WATERMELON took a little longer to find—ironic, considering it’s such a big part of any Independence Day feast. I personally love it, though I know it’s a divisive fruit for some. Rounding out the grid were BEANS and SALAD, both of which are essential picnic fare.
One of the joys of Strands is how each word discovery makes the rest of the puzzle click together more smoothly. Today’s puzzle was satisfying without being overly tricky, making it a perfect fit for a relaxed holiday morning.
