How To Play NYT Connections

Every day, you’re presented with a 4×4 grid of 16 words. Your job? Find the hidden NYT Connections and organize the words into four groups of four. The trick is that some words might seem to fit more than one category, so you’ll need to think carefully.

Each group is color-coded by difficulty:

  • 🟨 Yellow: Easiest
  • 🟩 Green: Moderate
  • 🟦 Blue: Challenging
  • 🟪 Purple: Tricky wordplay

You get four strikes, so use your guesses wisely. Shuffle those words if they’re not clicking—that’s helped me more than once.

Personal Notes & Commentary

Today was a fun one—not too brutal, and with a nice rhythm. I started with the yellows. MARKET and BAZAAR popped right out, and from there, FAIR and OUTLET fell into place.

Next up were the pizzas. VEGGIE and HAWAIIAN were my anchors here, and SUPREME felt like a giveaway. I hesitated a second on PLAIN, but it made the most sense.

With half the board cleared, I was staring down MARIGOLD, EVERGREEN, and INFRARED—color-coded clues were obvious now. That left QUICKSILVER as the wildcard, and it fit perfectly with the theme.

The final four were trickier until I looked at the words and thought about household chores: VACUUM cleaner, PIPE cleaner, BATHROOM cleaner, DRY cleaner—and boom, the puzzle was done!

Final Thoughts

Another win! That’s 77 in a row for me, and yes—I’m bragging just a little. Not to jinx myself, but this one felt smooth. If you struggled, don’t worry. Some puzzles hit differently depending on your experiences, vocabulary, or even your mood.

A small shoutout to the word SUPREME, which makes me crave a pizza run. And if you’re wondering—yes, I’m team pineapple.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for more hints and answers. And hey, why not invite a friend into the game? Everything’s more fun with a rival or partner.
