An Asian man was violently assaulted yesterday as he waited for a train at the 21st Street/Queensbridge F train station.

According to the NYPD and witnesses, the unidentified Asian man was shoved onto the subway tracks in Long Island City during the Monday morning rush.

The alleged suspect, who has not been identified by the police yet, approached the victim and pushed him for no apparent reason.

Police obtained camera images of the alleged attacker and are seeking the help of the public in identifying the man. He is described as dark-skinned, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches or 6 feet tall, wearing a mask, a black hoodie, black pants and dark shoes.

The victim suffered a cut to his forehead and was taken to Emergency Medical Services at Mount Sinai Queens hospital, but he was not seriously injured.

According to the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force, attacks on Asians are up 73% from last year. Asians have been targeted in 80 New York City hate crimes from Jan. 1 through April 4, up from 16 in the same period in 2020.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
