Chinese Moon Names

We can see it illuminated half. Over the next few days, the lit area grows. More than half appears lit. This is the waxing gibbous.
The whole face is lit. This is the full moon. Next comes the waning gibbous. More than half is lit; however, that light is shrinking day by day. Then it’s the waning crescent.
Its orbit tilts slightly compared to the Earth’s orbit. The path of the solar eclipse goes above or below the sun frequently, but sometimes it crosses directly across the sun and we see the eclipse!
Is There a full Moon Every Month?
The Moon’s phases are linked to the months of the year. The word “month” comes from “moon”. People used to define months as 29 or 30 days. Keep an Eye on the Planets

Venus and Jupiter begin to rise low on the horizon on the mornings of July 21 and 22 before sunrise; they will be in company of the Pleiades and Hyades clusters and Aldebaran. Do get out of bed for this pretty morning view.
After sunset on the 28th, Mars will be alongside the crescent Moon and will be visible for about an hour or two after sunset. The year 2025 is the 60th anniversary of the first flyby of Mars in 1965, and one of the major discoveries was that the Mariner 4 sent back the first pictures ever from space of another planet.
