Wein, 80 years old, has produced the festival since it’s inception in 1954, added, “I’m as proud of the 2006 JVC Jazz Festival Newport as any event I’ve ever created. It represents a total picture of what the jazz scene is in America today.�

George Wein, CEO of Festival Productions, Inc. and producer of the JVC Jazz Festival – Newport, has announced the final line-up for the JVC Jazz Festival – Newport, RI, to be held August 11 – 13, 2006.

“Chris Botti, the brilliant young trumpeter whose records top the jazz charts; the McCoy Tyner Impulse Records All-Star Septet with Donald Harrison, Wallace Roney, Steve Turre, Eric Alexander, Charnett Moffett & Eric Gravatt; Jenny Scheinman, whose album was considered one of the best of the year by the New York Times; the powerhouse duo of Eddie Palmieri & Brian Lynch; and the Ron Affif Trio have been added to an already star-studded roster,â€? said Wein.  George Benson, Al Jarreau, Savion Glover, The Bad Plus and Dave Brubeck are just a few of the other artists that are part of the 52nd year of the famed Newport Jazz Festival, sponsored by JVC.
