The People’s Organization For Progress (POP) will rally this weekend to mark the historic 1963 March On Washington and boost today’s struggles for voting, civil, and human rights.

It will take place Sunday, August 28, 2022, 1:00pm at the Martin Luther King Statue outside the Essex County Martin Luther King Jr Justice Building, 495 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Newark, NJ.

Sunday will mark the 59th anniversary of the March On Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King gave his famous “I Have A Dream Speech.”

“Everyone opposed to right-wing efforts to erase everything that Dr. King and others in the Civil Rights Movement fought and died for is urged to attend,” stated Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress.

Speakers will include grassroots activists and several individuals who attended the 1963 march who will discuss their participation. “We invite people who were at the 1963 march to come and talk about their participation, but also discuss the struggle for racial, social, and economic justice today,” Hamm stated.
