YONKERS, NY – Rep. Jamaal Bowman today launched his re-election campaign to continue representing New York’s 16th Congressional District. Bowman’s announcement was made in a video, “Delivering for the District,” ahead of a campaign kickoff and canvassing launch event in Yonkers tonight.
“I first ran for Congress because too many of our children, from the Bronx to Westchester, were dying of gun violence with too little attention and action,” Rep. Bowman says in the announcement video. “Career politicians and a broken status quo want to keep leaving behind the same communities, over and over again. But we stand up, we fight, and we win real progress. Let’s keep building and delivering together for the people.”
At the canvassing kickoff event, Rep. Bowman will be joined by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Hastings-on-Hudson Mayor Niki Armacost, Mamaroneck Trustee Leilani Yizar-Reid, Tyler Hack of Sunrise Westchester, Nada Khader of WESPAC, Reverend Dr. Stephen Pogue, members of SEIU 1199, and local leaders from across the district. Following the event, Rep. Bowman and supporters will knock doors to kick off the campaign’s grassroots voter outreach.
