Bronx, New York – On Saturday, September 14th at 2 pm (EDT), the New York Poor People’s Campaign and a growing coalition of impacted people and organizations will co-host a press conference in front of the Bronx Museum of the Arts, located at 1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10456.

Campaign leaders, including: Reverend Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, National Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign and Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice will speak about the power of  centering poor and low-income infrequent voters who are not typically prioritized by other candidates and campaigns. Leaders will share insights on issues important to poor and low-income voters and outline our GOTV program aimed at mobilizing this ‘sleeping giant’ of voters. The press conference is being held in the 44th Precinct, one of the poorest precincts in the state.

With approximately 85 million poor and low-income eligible voters in the US who represent at least 30% of the electorate, and around 40% in battleground states, this demographic has  the power to decide election outcomes in every state. At the press conference, voters will share personal testimonies on why they are committed to mobilizing other poor and low-income voters in 2024 and beyond.
