Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado today announced that the New York State Building and Construction Trades Council endorsed his campaign for a full term as New York State Lieutenant Governor. The New York State Building and Construction Trades Council (BCTC) represents more than 200,000 tradesmen and tradeswomen across New York and consists of 16 local building trades councils, 12 district councils and state associations, and 135 local unions.

The endorsement is the first of many to come that show Delgado’s strength as a Lieutenant Governor candidate and growing support across the state.

The Lieutenant Governor has been a longtime supporter of union workers, in Congress he co-sponsored and voted to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, voted for the The Paycheck Fairness Act, and Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which changed the lives of working class individuals all across the country and their families for the better.

“It is an honor to be endorsed by the working people of the New York State Building and Construction Trades Council.” said Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado. “I’m humbled that they have put their trust in me, and look forward to working together to strengthen worker protections and well-being in New York. The people of the Building and Construction trades do the hard work of building up the Empire State that we love and it’s our responsibility to do our part to never let them get left behind.”

“The New York State Building and Construction Trades Council is proud to endorse Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado for a full term,” said Gary LaBarbera, President of the New York State Building and Construction Trades Council. “From his advocacy in Washington, DC to Albany, it’s clear that Lieutenant Governor Delgado understands the importance of hard work and the value of the Empire State’s working people. More than ever, New York needs leadership at the top that ensures investment in projects that build the state’s middle-class – projects that invest in our tradesmen and tradeswomen – and we’re certain that in partnership with Governor Hochul, Lieutenant Governor Delgado will deliver time and again for our members.”

The BCTC also advocates for the advancement of workers’ rights, economic security and middle-class employment opportunities for its membership and all working people, as well as safe working conditions across New York’s construction, development, and real estate communities.
