Councilman Charles Barron and other Councilmembers will Present a Proclamation to the Central Park Joggers on the Steps of City Hall Wednesday and City Council will Vote on Resolution 81-A.
Barron and other Councilmembers will present the proclamation to the Central Park Joggers at 1PM, Feb. on the Steps of New York City Hall. “These proclamations represent a symbol of their courage and their determination to receive justice. The substance will be when the city settles this case out of court and pays them their just due,” Barron said.
Immediately following the presentation, a vote will be taken on Resolution 81-A. This bill calls on the City of New York to acknowledge the years of suffering of all those involved in the Central Park Jogger case, including the five men whose convictions were vacated and the jogger herself, by settling this matter out of court as expeditiously as possible in order to avoid a continuation of this painful, lengthy and costly legal proceeding that will only cause further anguish for all parties involved, Barron said.
The bill was reintroduced by Councilman Barron and to date a total of 27 Councilmembers have signed onto the bill. Barron encourages his colleagues to vote on this bill tomorrow.
