Washington, D.C.—Today, new polling from CNN conducted by SSRS between March 6-9, 2025 finds that Americans overwhelmingly oppose President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s cuts to federal programs, citing the harm being done to Americans personally, their communities, and the economy writ large. The poll comes as Senate Democrats signal their opposition to a partisan government funding bill that cuts Head Start and Community Health Centers and give Trump and Musk power to make further cuts to programs they rely on.

“While Republicans are demanding more power for the president and Elon Musk to gut programs that protect Americans and support our economic growth, this polling confirms Democrats are standing with the American people, who oppose Trump’s handling of the economy and understand the real harm being done to working families,” said Colin Seeberger, senior adviser for communications at the Center for American Progress Action Fund.
