The People’s Organization For Progress (POP) March for Ceasefire in Gaza and Justice For Palestinians will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, starting 12 noon, at the Lincoln Statue, 12 Springfield Ave, Newark, NJ.
“We are marching to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Israel’s war on Gaza and an end to the genocide against the Palestinians,” Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress stated. “We are marching to demand an unrestricted flow of all requested, necessary and needed humanitarian aid including food, water, and medicine at levels commensurate with the crisis there to all areas within Gaza.”
“We are marching to demand the immediate restoration of all systems necessary for life including water, electricity, communications and the internet,” Hamm continued. “We are marching to demand justice for the Palestinians because there can be no lasting peace without it.”
“This includes an end to the siege of Gaza, an end to Israel’s illegal occupation, and an end to Israel’s racist apartheid system,” Hamm said. “It must also include recognition of Palestinians right to self-determination, the establishment of a independent and sovereign Palestinian state, and the right of return of Palestinian refugees and those living in exile.”
“We are marching to call for the release of all hostages, those held by both Hamas and Israel,” Hamm stated. “We are marching to call upon the Biden administration and Congress to cease support for this genocidal war in Gaza.”
“Israel could not execute this war without the support and military aid it is receiving from the United States. Therefore the U.S. is complicit in the war crimes being committed by Israel,” Hamm added. “We call for an immediate halt to all U.S. military aid to Israel. The tax dollars of U.S. citizens should not be used to fund Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.”
