A “No Kings Day” March and Rally to protest the policies of the Trump administration will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, starting 11:00am at the Lincoln Statue located at 12 Springfield Avenue in Newark, New Jersey.

The demonstration is being sponsored by the New Jersey Alliance For Immigrant Justice, People’s Organization For Progress (POP), American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, and Make The Road New Jersey.
It has also been endorsed by other social justice groups including the coalition of organizations that held the Martin Luther King People’s Convention for Justice and Resistance in April. That coalition included the 287 organizations that endorsed the convention.
The demonstration in Newark is one of about 2,000 protests that will take place in cities and towns in all 50 states of the U.S. These protests have been called by several national organizations including 50501, Indivisible, and the American Civil Liberties Union, which held similar protests earlier this year.
The protests are being held not only to demonstrate opposition to Trump’s policies but also to a military parade he is having on June 14th which is his birthday. It is also Flag Day and the Army’s 250th anniversary.
“Donald Trump is trying to make himself a dictator. He wasn’t elected to be dictator or a king. He was elected to be president. We want democracy not dictatorship,” Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress stated.
“What Trump has been doing since his return to office for the past six months is an extension of his attempted January 6, 2021 coup. We are marching on Saturday to oppose his anti-democratic, autocratic and fascist policies,” Hamm said.
“Speaking for POP, we are marching against the Trump administrations draconian budget cuts to just about every federal program that benefits working people, poor people, and the middle class, while at the same time trying to give trillion of dollars of tax breaks to those who are already filthy rich,” he said.
“We are marching against Trump’s racist and anti-black policies. He has targeted the African American community in a particularly destructive way,” he said.
“His attacks on our civil rights and protections, constitutional rights, voting rights, human rights, civil liberties, educational institutions, affirmative action, DEI, Black History, and economic well being is an attempt to drag us back to the 19th century,” Hamm said.
“We are marching to end Trump’s ICE raids and mass deportations which are violating human rights and civil rights and causing innocent people to be arrested and persecuted. He has turned ICE and other law enforcement agencies into his 21st century brown shirted gestapo,” he said. “And we are marching against Trump’s imperialist policies and rhetoric, his continued support for Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinians, wars in Congo, Sudan, and other African countries, and war mongering foreign policy,” Hamm said.
