The learning and fun begin at 10 AM on Saturday at the Power Center, 12401 S. Post Oak Rd. Houston, TX 77045. Until 3 p.m., participants will learn about gaining wealth from workshops, one-on-one consultations, seminars, and other activities that aim to empower Black communities with steps towards homeownership, property investment, starting a business, and other wealth-building opportunities.
We believe the time for action on Black Wealth is now. NAREB urges our Black communities to take the journey towards wealth. Come to the event and learn what you need to purchase a home. We are helping Black families overcome the biased public policies and private practices that created the vast wealth gap in America today.
“We will go into these communities nationwide, locate these families and individuals, educate them, and inspire them to build wealth,” said Courtney Johnson Rose, a Houston native and President of the NAREB. “Systematic racism has plagued our communities and impeded our ability to gain wealth, but we can overcome these challenges. In addition to the Black lawyers and Black Mayors, we are working with Black fraternities and sororities to help us locate people who can be put on a path toward intergenerational wealth.”
Among those speaking at the event Saturday will be Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who is Honorary Chair of Houston Wealth Building Day; Felicia Guidry, President Houston NAREB chapter; Dr. Courtney Johnson Rose, Houston developer, and NAREB National President; Rodney Elis, Harris County Commissioner; and Martha Castex-Tatum, Vice Mayor Pro-Tem.
