MTA STATE-OF-THE-ART BUSES ROLL OUT IN QUEENS

It’s official. The new high-tech buses New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced back in March took to the road early this week.

The buses are the first of 75 state-of-the-art vehicles now in service in Queens. They are equipped with Wi-Fi and USB charging ports and surveillance cameras for passenger safety.

Seven of the new buses hit the road Tuesday while an MTA spokesman said 68 more will be brought online to serve passengers in Richmond Hill, South Jamaica, South Ozone Park, Springfield Gardens, Rosedale and Far Rockaway.

The MTA will also be testing digital information screens on 200 buses this year, which show information about stops and service alerts, according to their website.

2,042 new buses are scheduled to hit the road over the next  five years.
