Acting as a newlywed couple, the duo must partner up and encounter extremely dangerous tasks assigned to them by the agency. Calling it “the company” these two are somewhat misfits as compared to the original Mr. & Mrs. Smith. With their unique personalities and different approaches, they bring a fresh perspective to the first season. While John’s experience as a military man lets him utilize his training, he is somewhat uncontrolled. On the other hand, Jane, carrying trust issues, does not follow his lead. As they both engage in their own ways to combat this task, they adhere to certain skills in order to work as a team. Within this mayhem, they also develop their own relationship as the season progresses.
However, the season races through their relationship to the end of their marriage. Due to this, viewers do not really get to connect to the backstory of both the characters or how they enhance their personal relationships in order to work together. With racing car scenes, continuous squabbling, and violence, the duo develops their relationship in a few scenes. However, the highlight of the show is the well-directed visuals of the season. The director left no stone unturned in making a remarkable visually appealing series, with contrasts of color and great locations. This is what saves the season and separates it from the average thriller films.

These happen to be the other set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, who have entrapped the first duo in their own home. While John is highly injured, Jane has only one bullet to tackle the other couple. In between chaos and fights, it is unclear as to which couple wins the fight. This might be revealed in the second season. However, there is a chance that the new season may not address this cliffhanger at all and may initiate another story about another set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
