Morrissey Cancels Stockholm Show: Legendary musician and ex-Smiths frontman Morrissey has formally Morrissey Bonfire of Teenagers canceled his next concert in Stockholm due to sheer exhaustion and continued lack of encouragement from the music business. The 66-year-old musician was due to take the stage at Hovet Arena on Monday, June 23, as part of his UK and European tour.
Band Exhaustion Forces Cancellation
The news was made public via Morrissey’s official website, Morrissey Central, where he explained the cost of the tour on his band and crew. Having played in six countries within one week, the crew was said to be “travel-weary beyond belief.”
The agony at failing to arrive in Stockholm this week is abhorrent for the band and entourage,” Morrissey said. “We envision Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus. but there is no money available from make-believe record labels to transport us to such locales.
Fans who had bought tickets were notified that the cancellation was because of “exhaustion among the band and crew,” and refunds would be issued at the place of purchase.

No Support from the Music Industry
Morrissey wasn’t shy about his irritation over what he feels is total abandonment by the music industry. Even with strong ticket sales, the singer reports there’s “zero music industry support.”
No label will release our music, no radio will play our music, and yet our ticket sales are sensational,” he said. “What does this tell us about the state of Art in 2025?
The artist, known for his candid and often controversial statements, lamented the absence of meaningful backing. He blamed absence of financial or promotiona for his current tour. He added that while they hope to perform in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Denmark, they simply can’t afford to get there without outside help.
The Road Ahead: Berlin Next
Despite the setback in Stockholm, Morrissey remains hopeful about the remaining stops on his tour. He stated:
“The wagon continues on to Berlin, 27 June. With God’s blessing we will be all together again. I love you all with whatever remains of my condemned heart.”
Current Album Drama and Industry Beef
Morrissey’s indignations have been compounded by the ongoing postponement of the unreleased album, Bonfire of Teenagers. Taped between 2020 and 2021, it was initially to be released in 2023 with Capitol Records. The project, however, is still put on hold following Morrissey’s breakup with the label in 2022.
A History of Industry Tensions
Morrissey’s troubled relationship with the music industry began during his time with The Smiths, when he constantly disagreed with their label, Rough Trade, on matters of poor promotion and defeatist mindsets. When the band became successful, tensions within the band and outside it mounted, ultimately resulting in their disbandment in 1987.

Fans Left Disappointed, But Hope Remains
Morrissey cancels stockholm show has left Morrissey’s devoted European fans in disappointment. However, most still believe in the singer’s artistic integrity and the huge touring pressures without the backing of an institution.
Though the singer’s message was tinged with sadness, his fans believe he would be able to carry on the tour and possibly, one day, drop his highly anticipated album.
