Nonviolence demands that abuses of power cannot happen in the dark. History, our Constitution, and our faith teach us that we must shine a light on them.

At McCarty Memorial Church in Los Angeles, we gathered last night with faith and community leaders for a mass meeting. In the Southern freedom movement, nonviolent direct actions never happened without the community first coming together to pray and center themselves in their moral commitments.

We are in Los Angeles with the The Save America Movement to support local leaders who have been organizing a moral resistance for more than 130 days with Liberty Vans that will shine a light on what masked agents are doing here under the cover of darkness.

I’m glad to share my message from last night’s meeting with you and hope it helps you center yourself for the important work of shining a light where you are.

I also invite you to watch and share the livestream of today’s event at MacArthur Park at 10am PT/1pm ET.
