African Americans And Economic Depression

[Truth To Power]

Every morning in 2009, President Barack Hussein Obama, after hugging and kissing the "First Family," should look at the 2009 calendar, a collector's item, which will be on display for sale at UAM on Wednesday, November 26 at the Elks Plaza, 1068 Harriet Tubman (Fulton Street) nr. Classon Ave. in Brooklyn. Take the "C" train to Franklin Ave. (Fulton Street). Walk two blocks to Elks Plaza.

This colorful calendar for 2009 has President-elect Obama surrounded by Dr. Martin L. King, Jr., Fannie Lou Hamer, Malcolm X, Shirley Chisholm, Hon. Marcus Garvey, Hon. Elijah Muhammad and Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth. These revered ancestors represent the tip of the iceberg of the Black struggle for freedom, justice, equality, respect and human dignity.

Our struggle for human rights started immediately with our captivity. The list of persons who have resisted our captivity and mistreatment have been endless. We honor them by our relentless study of our rich history and our use of this history, culture and critical thinking to correct our plight. "Know thyself."

White people in the United States are undergoing a recession and are entering a "Great Depression." President-elect Obama defines a "Great Depression" as when the unemployment rate exceeds twenty-five percent. This was the unemployment rate in the 1930s. Today, our chronic, unemployment rate is over fifty percent. It has been so for the past seven decades in addition to the prison-industrial complex.

FDR had to do a makeover of the federal government to save white supremacy. This involved, inter alia, the gold standard and Erie R.R. v. Tompkins. There had to be a tampering with federal common law. FDR's concern was to change the system of money and banking.

Until 1865, Blacks enjoyed full employment in the United States while many white immigrants were on unemployment lines without unemployment compensation. Afterwards, Blacks had to face a sharecropping system accompanied by white terrorism and a Jim Crow judicial system. See, for example, Judge Roy Bean. The options were "Uncle Tomism" or a penal colony with lynching being the ultimate weapon.

Black people need to know where they are headed after January 20, 2009. "People without vision shall perish." No credible Black person can argue that we currently are enjoying visionary leadership. Blacks are not in an economic crisis. We are in a "mental crisis." We have survived the "economic crisis."

The lesson from Jonestown 1978 is that mentacide can eventually become genocide. The answer to our future will be delivered on Wednesday night. It will focus on the history of money and banking. This was Alexander Hamilton's concern and it will be Obama's. Three presidents were assassinated for tampering with money and banking. Nixon was threatened with impeachment.

This hypothetical is a life and death situation. We have to be in the state capital in Alaska by May 1, 2009. We must travel by foot. To reach Alaska, we are given the option of accepting $25,000.00 cash or, in the alternative $24,800.00 cash in addition to a map and a compass. We have made this decision every day of our lives.
