On December 16, Yum! Brands, owner of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC, announced it would extend its partnership with Excelsior College to help Pizza Hut workers and their families pay for tuition.

The program, “Life Unboxed EDU,” will give Pizza Hut employees a 45% discount on undergraduate programs and a 15% discount on graduate programs.  In addition, Pizza Hut will pay up to $5,250 for tuition, books, and fees for salaried, full-time corporate employees.

In a press release, Pizza Hut CEO David Gibbs said, “Pizza Hut is committed to providing our team members with opportunities to reach their highest potential, and this custom-designed program with Excelsior College is an exciting example of that. The cost of going to college is a significant hurdle for many people who have a desire to continue their education, so we are taking away as much of that burden as possible through Life Unboxed EDU.”

Currently, there are 65 Pizza Hut employees enrolled in the pilot program, while 100 more are in the application process. Most team members are working towards a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business Management.

Yum! Brands had implemented a similar program for its Taco Bell employees. Perhaps KFC will be next.
