Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, nationally-acclaimed writer, author and radio host, will deliver the 2014 Medgar Evers College commencement address, at 10:00am Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Barclays Center.

Dr. Dyson is currently a professor of sociology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and a world-renowned commentator on many national news programs.  His books, lectures, and hour-long talk show on NPR, “The Michael Eric Dyson Show,” have received national praise.

His best-selling books provide some of the most significant commentary on modern social issues, to date. His works also reflect issues surrounding cultural criticism, race theory, religion, philosophical reflection, and gender studies.

Notable works include: Making Malcolm X; I May Not Get There with You; Holler if You Hear Me; Mercy, Mercy Me: The Art, Loves and Demons of Marvin Gaye; Is Bill Cosby Right? Or Has the Black Middle Class Lost Its Mind?; Come Hell or High Water: Hurricane Katrina and the Color of Disaster; and the recent Can You Hear Me Now? The Inspiration, Wisdom, and Insight of Michael Eric Dyson, deeply probe social themes and cultural politics.
