Mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to take part in a massive rally outside Trump Tower Thursday in Manhattan, a day before the inauguration.
The mayor will reportedly be joined by Hollywood actor and activist, Mark Ruffalo, filmmaker Michael Moore, actors Alec Baldwin and Rosie Perez, and Reverend Al Sharpton.
The protest is being led by climate change activist group, Greenpeace, and political activist group, Moveon.
“MoveOn is proud to be a part of the peaceful and non-violent rally at Trump Tower,” Ben O’Keefe, a representative of Moveon movement, said in a statement. “Our members are committed to taking on the bigotry and discrimination that Trump has shown will be the platform of his presidency.”
In a published statement on his Facebook page, Mayor de Blasio acknowledged his participation in the event, saying, ” Thursday night, I’ll join New Yorkers from all walks of life at Trump International Hotel and Tower to begin the work of protecting our city’s values. Our next president and his administration need to hear from all New Yorkers before he takes office.”
