The 113th Precinct in Jamaica, Queens

In a news conference Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced his plan to increase policing in Queens by including a new precinct for the public.

The precinct will serve, Rosedale, Brookville, Laurelton and Springfield Gardens, the Mayor announced.

“We heard this from the community: We needed to do more to help southeast Queens,” the mayor said at the news conference.

The statement from the Mayor comes after a group of local officials from Southeast Queens urged de Blasio to create a new precinct in February.

“This is something these communities have been fighting for for 30 to 40 years,” the Mayor said.

A representative for the NYPD told the Blackstar News that the new precinct “will cover the southern part of the 105 Pct., which includes Rosedale and Laurelton. The specific boundaries nor the location have not been determined.”
