Ingrid Lewis-Martin, the former top aide of scandal-plagued Mayor Eric Adams, according to her lawyer, will be hit with new charges Thursday coming from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Lewis-Martin’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, said in a statement “Tomorrow, [Thursday] Ingrid Lewis-Martin will appear in Supreme Court, New York County. The District Attorney has refused to provide any details about the charges. Despite a lifetime of service as a law-abiding public servant, Ingrid is being forced to enter court with little information. What she does know is this: she has always served the City with integrity, and she will firmly plead not guilty to every charge. While the specifics remain unclear, Ingrid is certain of one thing-she has broken no laws, and she is not guilty. We will be requesting an expedited trial schedule.”
Reportedly, the charges against Lewis-Martin are part of a new case that has not yet been made public. Lewis-Martin served as Adams’ chief advisor from January 10, 2022 until her resignation on December 15, 2024. Her resignation came after her home was raided, on September, 27, 2024, when phones were seized—after federal agents served her with a grand jury subpoena, upon her return from a trip to Japan. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced they were investigating five charges including: bribery, falsifying business records, offering a false instrument for filing, and money laundering.
By December, 19, 2024, Lewis-Martin was indicted, along with her son, by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Additionally, the new indictment purportedly will also name other Adams’ officials and friends including: Deputy Commissioner of Real Estate Services, Jesse Hamilton, and Lewis-Martin’s son, Glenn Martin II. Important Adams’ backers Gina and Tony Argento are also expected to be indicted.
Reportedly, Lewis-Martin is currently a volunteer advisor for the Adams’ reelection campaign. A spokesperson for Adams’ campaign, Todd Shapiro, said, “Mayor Adams stands by her decades of public service and remains confident that the truth will prevail. Ingrid has dedicated her life to the people of New York City, and she deserves the presumption of innocence and the support of those who know her best.”
However, when asked about the new indictment, against Lewis-Martin, Adam’s City Hall press secretary Kayla Mamelak Altus said, “Mayor Adams was not involved in this matter and has not been accused of or implicated in any wrongdoing. He remains focused on what has always been his priority — serving the 8.5 million New Yorkers who call this city home and making their city safer and more affordable every single day. Ingrid Lewis-Martin no longer works for this administration.”
This new scandal comes as Adams is trailing far behind Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani and former Governor Andrew Cuomo—and even below Curtis Sliva, founder of the Guardian Angels.
