NYPD CSI UNITS CANVAS SCENE WHERE CELEBRITY BARBER ZANU SIMPSON WAS SHOT SEVERAL TIMES IN THE HEAD

A man who was shot several times in the head on Tuesday was a well-loved barbershop owner in his community. Zanu Simpson, 32, was in his white BMW X5 when he was killed by an unknown assailant, according to a police spokesman.

Police from the 105th Precinct found Simpson slumped over in his SUV a little after 12:30 a,m. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police were called to the scene after residents reported hearing gunshots. A silver sedan was seen leaving the scene by an eyewitness, according to the police.

Simpson’s vehicle was discovered soon afterwards at the corner of Lansing Avenue and South Conduit Avenue. Police found a gun at the scene and several bullet casings.

Simpson owned a barbershop with his brother called Strictly Skillz Barbershop, which is located at 190-11 Hollis Avenue.

According to Simpson’s social media site, several popular rappers and athletes would frequent the establishment to receive haircuts from the well-loved barber.

“Everyone in the community is taking it hard,” said a resident near where Simpson lived. “We don’t understand why anyone would do this to him. He was a good soul. A good soul.”

Police still don’t have a motive for the killing and the investigation is ongoing.
