Malikah Shabazz, one of the twin daughters of Malcolm X, was found dead in her Brooklyn home on Monday.

Shabazz, 56, was found unconscious by her daughter around 4 or 5 p.m. The NYPD has said her death doesn’t appear to be a suspicious one. It is being said she died of natural causes.

Shabazz was one of the twins born to Betty Shabazz after Malcolm X was assassinated in Harlem’s Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1965.

Bernice King, the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., offered her condolences in a tweet saying: “I’m deeply saddened by the death of #MalikahShabazz. My heart goes out to her family, the descendants of Dr. Betty Shabazz and Malcolm X. Dr. Shabazz was pregnant with Malikah and her twin sister, Malaak, when Brother Malcolm was assassinated. Be at peace, Malikah.”

The news of Malikah’s death comes just days after two men, Muhammad A. Aziz, 83, and the late Khalil Islam, who were convicted of Malcolm X’s assassination were exonerated. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance has said Islam and Aziz were “wrongfully convicted.”

It is also being alleged that the FBI, and NYPD, withheld vital evidence in the case regarding Malcolm X’s assassination.
