[New York Mayoral Election 2013]
New York City Comptroller John Liu will endorse Public Advocate Bill de Blasio for mayor this afternoon at 2:30 PM at the Manhattan Municipal Building, 1 Centre Street, the campaign said.
“I am proud to endorse Bill de Blasio for mayor of New York City,” John Liu said, in a statement. “Now more than ever, we need a mayor who will stand up for working and middle class families and Bill is that leader. He understands this city is strongest when every New Yorker – no matter where they live or where they come from, who they love or what they look like – has a fair shot. It is time Democrats unite behind Bill de Blasio and work together to ensure a progressive fighter wins in November.”
“The child of immigrants, John knew hard work and education were the keys to success. A dedicated public servant for more than a decade, John has been a fierce advocate for the middle class and those fighting to escape the scourge of poverty,” de Blasio said. “I look forward to working with John to make sure this city remains a place where every New Yorker can realize true opportunity.”
